Release 1.4 contains a newly written and comprehensive tutorial. Registration simply opens up the world to you. The 'demo' is actually the full product but you're limited to takeoffs from any of three airports - KOLM, KPDX, or KSEA.
There's a demo at the web site - just download the product using the green button, install and try it out.
